Subject: lubricants
hy,
I read the article on condomi products on the vegan society page.
are the lubricants also vegan? (free from animal products in
production and end product and free from animal testing (raw materials
and end product)).
I'm interested in the "lu:b" lubricant.
thanks for help
greets,
philipp

Dear Philipp,
I would like to inform you as follows: Our water-based medical
lubricant lu:b is free from animal products in production and end
product, but as it is a medical product it is not free from animal
testing.
Kind regards

hy,
I read your article on vegan contrception.
The article also says that condomi condoms are vegan (free from animal
products and animal testing). I contacted condomi, they wrote me that
their condoms are animal products free but due to condoms are a
medical product they are not free from animal testing.
this logically means that condomi is not vegan.
How do you see this case?

philipp

Philipp,
Thank you for your email.
The Vegan Society has registered Condomi's range as vegan, and Condomi
products bear our logo on their packaging. This means they have undergone
the rigorous registration procedure that gaining this authentication from us
requires.
In particular one of our criteria is that products are free from
animal-testing, and Condomi have signed Agreements to this effect.
I would be interested to know what exactly Condomi told you in the letter
you mention, for in their declarations to us they claim not to be involved
in animal-testing. Anyhow the mind boggles at the practicalities of testing
condoms on animals, and I'm not sure if it's legal!

below you can read my letter exchange with condomi. some are in

I don't think they tested the condom as the endproduct, maybe just the
used lubricants.

irgendetwas passt da nicht....
ich glaube allerdings kaum dass condomi die negativinformation bez. tierversuche erfindet, wäre ja kontraproduktiv.
