da die PA sich schon länger hin zieht, hier nur die letzte Antwort- für Interessierte poste ich den ganzen Schriftwechsel unten.

of our strictest vegans who also happen to work in product development
and so are in the best possible place to know.

We also survey every raw material supplier every year to ensure we have
their latest position on animal testing issues. Part of the
declaration the suppliers make to us is that no animal ingredients are
supplied to us other than ingredients that would fit the vegetarian
ethic such as honey or beeswax. If a suppliers is not able to sign our
declaration we search out another source of the supply. Materials such
as rubber gloves and cleaning products suppliers are also checked as
part of this process.

You raised the point about other materials used such as glues in the
production of boxes and labels and I can confirm that our suppliers do
not use animal based products in the manufacture of boxes or labels
used by Lush.

I hope this answers your questions in a clear and concise way. If you

ich habe das ganze Trauerspiel jetzt mal übersichtlich gestaltet, von unten nach oben zu lesen.

I'd be most delighted if you could answer this question sharply by addressing the raised points explicitly. Partially you've already answered this in prior mails, but I want unambiguous information and this you haven't given to me.

Given my level of frustration, I'm not in the mood to invest several more months of time, I'd rather allocate my resources and energy to animal rights instead to an issue which usually is a matter of few days. If you can't or don't want give concrete answers to questions by ethically motivated vegans then please let me know and I will withdraw my request and cease consuming Lush products as well as withdrawing my public support for them. If you are interested in a former and potentially future customer, then I'd be delighted to no end if you finally address my questions in a precise manner that is more committed and motivated than what you have delivered so far.

So far I can't find anything that we use that would be an issue. All labels and glued boxes use synthetic glues. Interestingly the manufacturers tell us that they no longer use animal based glues as they do not perform as well.

All our buyers are aware of our requirements and they are checking with suppliers as they place orders. We are extending our non-animal declarations to cover items we buy that are not ingredients in the products in order to keep all our suppliers aware of our policies.

As all ways it is an ongoing job to make sure all our suppliers comply with our wishes but rest assured we keep at it year after year.

In answer to your question we do not buy any ingredients that are made from animals and our suppliers sign a declaration to that effect each year. There are no trace elements of materials coming from animals.

I am looking into your question on other items such as glues etc however the person who buys those items in on holiday until next week.
I will email again next week when I have more info. We have quite a number of committed vegans working in different parts of the business and they keep an eye on any new materials not used directly in the products but it is always worth checking.

All Lush products listed on www.lush.co.uk as Vegan or in the Lush Times as Vegan are Vegan. When we say a product is suitable for Vegans we mean that it does not contain any ingredients from animals including honey, lanolin, eggs etc. It means there are no ingredients that are byproducts of animals such as some of the vitamin ingredients found in products from other companies. As we make all our fragrances and product perfumes we can also assure you that the fragrance or flavour of the the products we say are suitable for Vegans also do not contain any animal or animal derived ingredients. Lush making it's own fragrances is quite unusual for a company of our size but we do it because we want to be sure of what goes into our products.

I hope that this information is a help and I am happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

We should be grateful if you could let us know, which lush- products are vegan, because we don`t trust the German declaration (the declaration on the online- shop is different to the one in the lush- times). Please give us informations, which criterions count to name a product "vegan".

Please give us the following informations about the vegan products:


a) are all ingredients listed on the label (including these that do not have to be listed by law) ?

b) are compound ingredients composed of vegan or animal products?

c) are the synthesized ingredients synthesized of vegan or animal products (vitamin D for example may be synthesized of lanoline, wool fat, wich is not vegan)?

d) are other materials which are used in the manufacturing process (including any that are not present in the end product or are present in very small amounts) vegan?

e) all these queries relate to the packaging as well (e.g. glue
containing casein for the labels)

f) please give us exact information about animal testing referring to lush.

Daher sind die Fragen in meiner Anfrage auch so präzise formuliert& daher hilft mir auch eine Kennzeichnung nicht weiter, wenn ich nicht sicher sein kann, dass all diese Punkte berücksichtigt werden.

Ich habe meine zweite Anfrage an Lush/UK bereits auf ein Produkt beschränkt, da ich so hoffte, eine ausführliche Antwort zu erhalten. Da ja keine Antwort kam, stelle ich die Frage an euch& hoffe, dass ihr mir weiterhelfen möchtet:
Bitte teilt mir in Bezug auf Coalface mit:

a) Welche Inhaltstoffe werden verwendet ( auch solche, die laut Gesetz keine sind bzw. nicht deklariert werden müssen )?

b) Woher stammen die Inhaltstoffe (Tier-, Pflanzen-, Bakterienreich etc.)?

c) Woraus sind die zusammengesetzten Zutaten zusammengesetzt?

d) Welche Produktionshilfstoffe werden verwendet (auch wenn diese nicht mehr oder kaum noch vorhanden sind)?

e) Wurden für synthetisierte Stoffe tierische Ausgangsprodukte verwendet?

f) Welche entsprechenden Aussagen gelten für die Verpackungsmaterialien (beispielsweise kaseinhaltiger Kleber für die Etikettierung)?

Ich würde mich wirklich sehr über eine Antwort freuen, zumal Coalface eines meiner liebsten Produkte war.

Falls es möglich ist, interessieren mich auch folgende Produkte in Bezug auf die oben genannten Fragen:

Die Kennzeichnung, sowohl im Onlineshop, als auch im Katalog und im Geschäft ist mangelhaft, widerspricht sich sogar zum Teil. Wir konnten noch keine genauen Angaben über die von Ihnen verwendeten Aromen und Parfüms finden bzw. ob diese oder welche von ihnen vegan sind.

Eine Auflistung Ihrer veganen Produkte wäre sicherlich zur Freude Ihrer gesamten veganen Kundschaft. Vielleicht gibt es eine solche Liste ja auch und wir haben sie übersehen. Interessieren würden uns auch die Kriterien, die ein Produkt erfüllen muss, um als "vegan" zu gelten.

An dieser Stelle will ich auch noch ganz dringend darauf hinweisen, dass die "Vegan- Deklaration" nicht nur im Onlineshop, sondern auch in den Läden& der Lush- Times (Katalog) fehlerhaft ist. Also unbedingt immer Inaltsstoffliste lesen (Lus hat Volldeklaration).

Hallo zusammen!

Die Website stimmt, habe sie jetzt 2 mal kontrolliert, es haben sich wirklich ein oder zwei Fehler eingeschlichen. Tut uns sehr leid!!! Solltet ihr bei gewissen Inhaltstoffen oder Philosphie noch unsicher sein (z.B ist all unsere Bier und Essig vegan...wir wissen ja alle man sieht vielen Sachen nicht an ob sie vegan sind oder nicht :-( ) dann dürft ihr gerne ein Mail an alexandra@lush-shop.ch schreiben. Ich freu mich auch euch mitzuteilen, dass in Zukunft all unsere veganen Produkte auch mit der veganen Blume der englischen vegan society ausgezeichnet sein werden. Wenn ihr in einem Shop gewesen seid und das Gefühlt hattet , dass die Person euch beteffend veganer Produkte und Tierversuche nicht wirklich weitergeholfen hat, würde ich mich ebenfalls sehr über ein eMail freuen. Nur so können wir unseren Kundenservice verbessern, es ist halt schon so, dass viele Leute die bei uns anfangen nicht so genau über Veganismus/Tierversuche bescheid wissen, aber wir machen regelmässig Trainings um diese Lücke aufzufüllen.

Habe oben vergesssen zu sagen, dass all meine Angaben nur für Lush Schweiz gültig sind, da ich nicht genau weiss was Lush Deutschland macht, bzw. ich nicht für sie sprechen kann und will!

Danke wegen der Diskussion um die Putzmittel, wir haben uns entschieden nun Sonett Putzmittel zu verwenden statt Ecover....

Ich gehe bei lush mittlerweile garnicht mehr nach der Kennzeichnung, weil sie absolut unzuverlässig ist. Ich habe die lush- times mit den Weihnachtssachen (ist das die aktuelle?),& da ist zB Flying Fox als vegan gekennzeichnet (enthält Honig). Im Shop in Heidelberg habe ich schon sehr oft unvegane Produkte mit dem grünen Punkt (der normalerweise vegane Produkte auszeichnen soll) gesehen. Eine Verkäuferin war sich sogar mal ganz sicher, dass es vegane Lush-Rasiercremes gibt. Ich habe den Vorteil, dass ich mich gut mit Lush auskenne, aber unerfahrenere vegane Kunden können da echt leicht einen mörderischen Fehlkauf machen. :-(

Ich kenne nur das deutsche Lush- Forum- dafür aber recht gut (zum Glück! Schöne Plauderecke :-) ).

Ja, siehe oben. Die Mitarbeiter bräuchten ja nur eine verbindliche Liste& Infos, um die Kunden zu informieren, aber die gibt es anscheinend nicht.

Und Du hast keine Connections zu Lush Deutschland? ;-)
